Number 5

And the countdown begins. Now, I want to start by saying that I usually keep my List of Five to below the age of 40 simply because there are too many sexy older men that I can't narrow them down to five...(a few examples are Hugh Jackman, Dennis Quaid, Mel Gibson, and Gerard Butler)...but I am breaking that rule for my Number 5. He is 41 right now but he turns 42 on December 3rd...

Some of my favorite movies that he has played in are:

Encino Man
School Ties
Airheads
Mrs. Winterbourne
Bedazzled
Monkeybone
Journey to the Center of the Earth
Inkheart
And my favorites...
The Mummy Movies
and
George of the Jungle!!

Have you guessed him yet? Of course you have, because you saw his picture before you even opened this post...that makes it really hard to keep you guys in suspense. That's right. It's

Brendan Fraser!!

Yummy! There is just something about him. He is a great actor and he is so funny. Even in his serious roles, there is a little bit of humor in there. Even if it is just a facial expression. Now, everyone knows that I just love a man with long hair. That is one of the reasons that this

is the sexiest picture of him. Now, the nice bod doesn't hurt either! But the long hair really makes it! I love him in that movie. Of course, I'm not biased to how long the hair has to be, so semi long and shaggy with a little bit of facial hair also does the trick...

The cute half smile, the relaxed yet goofy pose, the yummy arms (yup, definitely an arms girl! I just love muscular arms!) He is just so cute.

I had a dream last night that I was at a Halloween party and he was there. I don't remember what our costumes were, but he was George of the Jungle Brendan with the long hair and hot bod...he wasn't the goober he was in the movie though. He was very intelligent. We were talking and flirting and dancing...well we ended up getting married at the end of my dream right before I woke up. Too bad I woke up so soon. :)

But, just because I like the long haired, goofy, wide open version of him doesn't mean I don't appreciate the shorter haired, serious, B.A. version of him.

Mmmm...excuse me while I drool a little bit. So sexy.

So there ya have it! My Number 5 in my List of Five. Who agrees with me that Brendan Fraser is one sexy man?

Stay tuned for my Number 4 that will be headed your way tomorrow, my blogging buddies!

Redo

So, I have decided to redo my List of Five since it has changed quite a bit from the last time I did it. Instead of doing it all in one post, I am going to start at five and do one entry per day so keep you all in suspense. Plus, I wanted to have more pictures and more info on them, so I am breaking it down into five entries. But, before I start on that, I am going to do an entry on my favorite celebrity ever.

I have always had a little crush on him since I was younger, and I love all of the work he is doing now, but he is unlike any other celebrity.

He is...

Kirk Cameron.

I loved him in Growing Pains. That was my favorite show growing up. It was so funny and Mike Seaver was so cute!

He became a born again Christian when he was 17 years old. He is one of the very few celebrities that never fell into drugs and alcohol. That right there is enough to respect him.

He played Buck Williams in the Left Behind movies and I loved him in those too but I absolutely adore him in Fireproof. He plays Caleb Holt, the captain of that Albany Fire Department in Georgia.

Now, I thought it was interesting that he and the actress who plays his wife never hugged or touched throughout the movie and then at the end, they hug and share a very passionate kiss...to me, it seemed like he would be the kind of person to feel very uncomfortable with the idea of kissing someone other than his wife. So I did a little research.

He refused to kiss anyone other than his wife. In Fireproof, the kissing scene is shot from a distance and the sun in shining into the camera so they are in silhouette. That is his wife that he is kissing, not the character who plays his wife in the film. His wife is wearing the same dress as the other actress and they just switched.

Now, I don't know about you, but this is saying a lot about him and his character. That is how it should be, but nothing is ever how it should be in this world anymore.

Completely random entry, I know, but I just wanted to share that. My List of Five entries will start later today or tomorrow.

Fireproof

Who has seen the movie Fireproof with Kirk Cameron? If you haven't, you need to go out and buy it right now and watch it. Every married couple needs to watch this movie together. I have seen it maybe 5 times now and I love it...but Josh and I haven't watched it together yet. I am actually watching it right now for the second time today. I'm watching it alone because Josh is on a hunting trip this weekend, but I need it. There is a line in there that really gets to me. (There are a lot of great lines in there, but this one is especially great.)

"Don't follow your heart, because your heart can be deceived. You have to lead your heart."

There are a lot of things that have been going through my mind these last few months and one of them is, "Should I follow my heart?" If I was going to follow my heart, I'm not sure where I would be right now. It has been telling me so many different things. I know that God is telling me some things but I also know what the devil is throwing some things in there too just to throw me off and to break up my marriage. If I had followed my heart, I would have been gone by now.

My heart has been and is being deceived. God wants my marriage to work. He wants my marriage to bring honor and glory to him through us. Right now, it isn't doing that. We are closer than we used to be...but we haven't gotten there yet. I want to get to that point.

There is a song on the soundtrack for Fireproof that I absolutely LOVE! It is called Love Is Not A Fight by Warren Barfield (click on the song title to watch it). I encourage all of you to take the time to watch this video and really listen to the lyrics. This is going to be my creed. When times are really tough and I just want to give up, I am going to listen to this song. The lyrics are below as well so you can read back over them. They are worth it.

Love is not a place
to come and go as we please
It's a house we enter in
then commit to never leave

So lock the door behind you
Throw away the key
Work it out together
Let it bring us to our knees

Love is a shelter
in a raging storm
Love is peace
in the middle of a war
And if we try to leave;
May God send angels to guard the door
No, Love is not a fight
but its something worth fighting for

To some love is a word
that they can fall into.
But when they're falling out
keeping that word is hard to do

Love is a shelter
in a raging storm
Love is peace
in the middle of a war
And if we try to leave;
May God send angels to guard the door
No, Love is not a fight
but its something worth fighting for

Love will come to save us
If we'll only call
He will ask nothing from us
but demand we give our all

Love is a shelter
in a raging storm
Love is peace
in the middle of a war
And if we try to leave;
May God send angels to guard the door
No, Love is not a fight
but its something worth fighting for.

Cause I Will Fight For You
Would You Fight For Me
It's Worth Fighting For.

I know I can't do this on my own and even Josh and I can't do this by ourselves, but I know that God is going to be there to help us through this and to bring us closer to him. I encourage you all to watch this movie and let me know what you think of it.

My new motto

"Homes are for free expression, not for good impressions."

I got this from the movie Yours, Mine & Ours with Rene Russo and Dennis Quaid. For those of you who have never seen this movie...Dennis Quaid is an Admiral in the U.S. Coast Guard and he is a widowed father of eight kids who runs his house like a tight ship. Rene Russo is a widow with ten kids who is a very laid back and relaxed mother. They were high school sweethearts and when they bump into each other again, they get married on a whim and their very large families clash a little bit...and by little, I mean a lot. It is a cute movie.

Anyway, Rene Russo's character is going out for a meeting and her daughter asks why doesn't she just have them over to the house, to which she replies, "Homes are for free expression, not for good impressions," right as a watermelon comes sailing down the stairs and explodes on the floor.

Now, this quote is my new motto for more than one reason. Yes (coughAllycough), the number one reason is definitely because I hate to clean. But that isn't the only reason. This quote is so true. My household is pretty hectic most days. I may not have 18 kids, but I do have a husband, a 2 year old, three dogs (one of which is the size of a horse), and a cat...and I just found out that we are adding a bird to the zoo that has become my home.

How on EARTH am I to be expected to keep this house spotless 100% of the time?? You have got to be out of your mind! I do understand that the house needs to be moderately clean at all times, I get that, but wouldn't it be so much better to sit down in the floor with your son and play for a while instead of running around like a chicken with your head cut off trying to get the house spotless?? Chasing my toddler around with a handy vac is not exactly my idea of a good time.

There will be messes. There will be chaos. There will be a lot of things, but a good impression will never be one of them. So why try? Now, this will be easy for me because, hey let's face it, I'm a big fat lazy bum. But for those of you who are so caught up in keeping the house clean...you are missing the opportunity to kick back, relax, and enjoy the little things.

And Gabriel's costume is...

My brother was supposed to buy Gabriel's costume for Halloween this year, but he just went to Vegas for his birthday, so he doesn't have the money...which is fine by me because I get to chose what Gabriel wears instead of Tyler picking. Well, there were a lot of cute costumes out there for little boys but there were also a lot of not so cute ones.

We eventually settled on him being a...

PIRATE!!

Isn't he just the cutest pirate in the world?!? I love the earring in his right ear!! He actually wanted to wear it and didn't pull it off or even play with it. I couldn't believe it! The actual description of the costume is Pirate King haha. But I love it!

I also got a few things for my costume. I'm not posting pictures on Facebook until Halloween and I haven't posted any pictures of my costume yet because I didn't have the whole outfit. Now that I have everything that goes with it, I am going to take more pictures and I might put them on here.

Josh said that he might go as a pirate too. If that happens then I might be more of a pirate wench instead of a lady musketeer haha but that is fine by me!

Relax? Yeah right!

I very rarely get time alone just to think. My two year old doesn't take naps during the day anymore...I'm not sure why...he just doesn't. I could make him, which is what I used to do, but I usually don't. Sometimes he falls asleep on my bed watching a movie and stays asleep for a little while, but it just isn't the same as a nice long nap in his bed in his own room.

When Josh gets home, he is usually so exhausted from work that he eats and goes right to bed. So I can't even pawn Gabriel off on him for ten minutes to myself. The only me time I get it when Gabriel goes to sleep at night. And then it is too late to even do anything other than read or work on my story or watch a movie.

So last night, we went to the grocery store when Josh got home, because he actually got home on time instead of late. When we got back home, I asked Josh if he could watch Gabriel so I could take a shower. Now, if you are in my position and are a stay at home mom, a shower is your best friend when someone is watching your child/children. You don't just rush through a shower like you usually have to. You take your time. You relax. You let your mind be free. And you enjoy the silence.

While I was in the shower last night, I heard an enormous commotion that could only be made by my 200 pound 2 year old dog followed shortly by a cry that could only be made by my 35 pound 2 year old son...Automatically, you think the worst...and normally I would have jumped out of the shower and ran to see what had happened. But, all of the doors were unlocked leading back into the bathroom where I was so I waited a few seconds to see if any more noise followed or if Josh would come rushing into the bathroom with a screaming bleeding child!

Nothing happened.

I waited a little bit longer...still nothing. And then I heard a small laugh. Obviously daddy had made whatever happened all better. But, my relaxing shower was ruined. The sanctuary of our showers and our relaxation is at stake, ladies! What are we to do?

I think have a nervous breakdown is close to the top of the list.

Tag!! You're it!!

I was tagged by a fellow blogger... The Year After ...to answer some questions and then tag some friends to answer some questions as well. Here are the questions I am supposed to answer...here we go:

1. What is one "little thing" you have to do for yourself occasionally to keep from going insane?
There are many things I do to keep from going insane...I read, I write (in my journal, work on a story idea), I daydream, if Gabriel is asleep then I turn off everything and just enjoy the silence, I take a nice long relaxing shower...the list goes on and on

2. What is your biggest pet peeve?
I hate fake people. You are who you are. Don't try to be something that you aren't. I also hate people that fish for compliments. They talk bad about themselves just so you will say something good about them to make themselves feel better...I'm sure you all know the type. It drives me crazy. Know-it-alls are another group that drive me up the wall. And people that try to out do you no matter what you are talking about. They think they know more than you about every topic. They have done it better than you, faster than you, more times than you. Ugh!

3. Where would be your dream place to live, and why?
I would love to live in either Scotland or on an island in the Caribbean surrounded by water and a very laid back atmosphere.

4. What is your favorite movie, and give us a summary of it and an explanation of why it is your favorite.
I'm not sure I can pick only one. I love Disney movies, war/military movies (and that includes movies in ancient times like Clash of the Titans, paranormal movies...man, I am basically listing them all haha. I seriously can't pick just one.

5. What is one thing you would like to change about yourself? Not about how you look... something about who you are.
This is an easy one. I wish I wasn't so lazy. I love being laid back, so I definitely wouldn't want to change that, but I would love to be less lazy...

All righty. Now, I am going to tag some of my friends and give you guys some questions to answer.

1. Ally
2. Natalie
3. Desiree

Your questions are:

1. What is your comfort food? Why?
2. If you could have any animal in the world (real or imaginary) as a pet, what would it be? Why?
3. What time period do you wish you lived in? Why?
4. Where would you love to go on a long vacation? Why?
5. What is your dream car? Why?

You answer these questions on your blog, tag as many friends as you would like, make up some questions for them, and have fun!!
